Making a Difference - Summer 2021
GCDD's Summer edition of Making a Difference quarterly magazine focuses on going back to school while navigating COVID-19 in its feature article, What Going Back to School Will Mean for Georgia Students with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities; and how the dollars provided to the state through the American Rescue Plan Act will impact schools and communities in Public Policy for the People. In Expert Update, Attorney Leslie Lipson talks about what the school year holds for families, and what they can do to help kids be more successful as they’re coming back to school. In What's Happening in Washington, check out the whirlwind of activity occurring both on Capitol Hill and with the new Biden administration with respect to hot topics like COVID-19, Community Living & HCBS, Disability Employment, Inclusive Education and Criminal Justice Reform. Plus more regular features including the Welcoming Community Movement, storytelling, self-advocacy spotlight and inclusive post-secondary education program updates.
