October 13, 2022 (Atlanta, GA) – The Georgia Senate will be in Tifton, Georgia Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. to conduct a Senate Study Committee Meeting on people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and the waiver plan access, and they want to hear from the public.

The Senate Study Committee Meeting is an opportunity for people with intellectual developmental disabilities, their families, and community members to provide in-person public comment about issues that are important to them. The meeting will take place at the Tifton Regional Medical Center located at 901 18th Street, Tifton GA. There will be a sign-up sheet at the meeting, and people will be called to speak in the order they sign-up. The Study Committee has also created a website allowing community members to provide written testimony. The website can be accessed here.

“This is a golden opportunity for people with developmental disabilities and their family members to speak directly to interested legislators about the importance of addressing the waiver waiting list and providing livable wages for direct support professionals (DSP’s),” said D’Arcy Robb, Executive Director for the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD).  “The more people pack the room, the better.
